Bird Watching Tour

Estonia is situated in the key point for migration routes of Arctic swimming birds. According to some evaluations, during the spring migrations up to 50 million swimming and coast birds stop at the Estonian coastline. The majority of them gain strength before continuing migration to nesting places in Arctic regions of Russia. In the peak of migration period, the first two or three weeks of May every little bay is full of different ducks, geese, grouses, swans, etc. During the spring migration period almost all world population of smaller swans (around 10-20 000 birds) and the bigger part of the population of white-cheeked grouses stays in Estonia. The biggest bird-watching venue in Estonia is Matsalu national park. Altogether there are 11 bird-watching territories in Estonia.
