PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Day 1 (Sunday)
Arrival in Vilnius, optional transfer to Hotel Panorama ***, check-in, welcome meeting, optional dinner at hotel.
Day 2 (Monday)
Vilnius is known for its more than 1.200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. The morning sightseeing tour includes a panoramic tour of the city and a walking tour of the Old Town with Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anne’s Church, Old University and the Gates of Dawn. The afternoon offers an optional excursion to Trakai, the medieval capital of Lithuania, with the well preserved Trakai Castle, beautifully located on an island in Lake Galve. In the evening we enjoy an optional folklore dinner at Restaurant Marceliukes Kletis.
Day 3 (Tuesday)
We get up early to go the Aukstaitija National park, which protects the forests and lakes of the Lithuanian highlands. We make a walking tour along a botanical trail through the pine forest (6km, 3 hours, medium). The balance of the day is spending on a drive through Lithuania and Southern Latvia. We reach Riga in the early evening and check-in at Hotel Europa City Riga***, optional dinner at hotel
Day 4 (Wednesday)
Riga, founded in 1201 by the German bishop Albert, is the largest of the three Baltic capitals and boasts a real kaleidoscope of architectural styles. The walking tour of the Old Town includes Riga Castle, the Dome Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, the Swedish Gate, the Three Brothers, the Large and Small Guilds and the Freedom Monument. In the afternoon we visit the vibrant Latvian sea resort of Jurmala and make a walking tour along the sandy Baltic Sea beach from Pumpuri to Majori and along the pedestrian main street of the resort from Majori to Dzintari (8km, 3 hours, light), optional dinner at the hotel
Day 5 (Thursday)
Today we head northeast for the Gauja National Park and embark on a waling tour through the Ligatne Wild-life Park, where bears, deer, elks and other wild animals live in a fenced-off enclosure of natural habitat (6km, 3 hours, medium). In the early afternoon we continue to Cesis, a picturesque Hanseatic city with winding streets and beautiful gardens. During the sightseeing tour we see the ruins of the Castle of the Livonian Order and the St. John’s Church, check-in at Hotel Cesis***, optional dinner at the hotel
Day 6 (Friday)
We continue now to Estonia and enjoy a walking tour in the Haanja Nature Park and around the Suur Manumaegi, the highest hill in the Baltic countries at just over 300m (6km, 3 hours, medium). The balance of the day is spend on a scenic drive through Estonia via Tartu, the famous university town, to Tallinn, check-in at Hotel Comfort Oru ***, optional dinner at hotel
Day 7 (Saturday)
Tallinn is a charming blend of medieval tranquility and modern urban life. The medieval Old Town is a busy place in the summer with its many shops, galleries, souvenir markets, outdoor cafés and restaurants. The sightseeing tour takes us around the old medieval city walls and into the Old Town where we see Toompea Castle, the Dome Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and medieval Old Town Hall. In the afternoon an optional excursion is offered to Kadriorg Park with a visit to the recently reopened Kadriorg Palace and its art collections. The evening offers an optional genuine medieval dinner at the Restaurant Peppersack .

Optional transfer to the airport.
