The building
is covered by a high pitched roof resting on steep gables. The main
façade faces north, the former market square, and stands on a
vaulted open arcade. The façade is topped with a decorative crenellated
parapet with gargoyles in the shape of dragons heads. The windows and
portals of the building are also remarkable. A slender octagonal tower
emerges from the eastern wall of the building; it is crowned by a late
Renaissance spire. A weathervane with the figure of a squire known as
Old Thomas stands at the top of the spire; there is another weathervane
on the western gable of the building. The cellars and ground floor of
the town hall served for household purposes; the first floor housed
the festive public rooms.
