TOWER
TOWER restaurant was opened by a swedish owner on January 17, 1993. Previous
to that time it was known as the cafeteria TORNIS, named after the beautiful
historical building Powder Tower, located directly opposite to the restaurant.
The intersection of Smilshu Street and Meistaru Street is one of most
remarkable spots in the Old Town section of Riga. The original name of
the cafeteria was kept and translated to English – TOWER.
The menu is still kept very Scandinavian with some international remarks
in food, still keeping old favorites in mind. It includes Norwegian salmon
and Swedish meatballs Finnish blue berry pie.
The New TOWER terrace attracts a lot of guests of Riga just to have a
cocktail and enjoy warm summer evening right by the Old Powder Tower.
TGI Friday
The first T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant in Riga was opened in 2002
on Kalku street - the busiest street in the Old Town. Restaurant’s
interior has the very same vintage style décor, which is well known
for millions of people worldwide: classic antiques, stained-glassed window,
wooden floors, brass accents, Tiffany-styles lamps, and red -and-white
stripes.
