Welcome
to Baltic-Breaks
Baltic Travel Agent Specialists Second in South America only to Brazil in size and population, Argentina is a plain, rising from the Atlantic to the Chilean border and the towering Andes peaks. Aconcagua (22,834 ft, 6,960 m) is the highest peak in the world outside Asia. Argentina is also bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay on the north, and by Uruguay and Brazil on the east. The northern area is the swampy and partly wooded Gran Chaco, bordering on Bolivia and Paraguay. South of that are the rolling, fertile Pampas, which are rich in agriculture and sheep- and cattle-grazing and support most of the population. Next southward is Patagonia, a region of cool, arid steppes with some wooded and fertile sections.Remember that the seasons in the southern hemisphere are opposite to those in the northern one. High season in Argentina is during the months of January and February (summer vacations) and July (winter vacations). There is plenty of local tourism during these periods and prices are usually higher. Buenos Aires can be enjoyed all year round, though it is very hot during the summer (January and most of February) Summer (January, February and part of December and March), with its gentle temperatures and long days, is the most favourable season in Patagonia (Andean and Atlantic), and in the Sierras del Centro (C?rdoba and San Luis) and the sierras and beaches of Buenos Aires' coastline. During the winter travelling through the north and northwest is recommendable for the rainfalls are less frequent and the tropical temperatures descend. Spring and fall are ideal for the Cuyo Region, though summer is appropriate as well.July and August are the most convenient months for the practice of ski at the various winter resorts the country possesses. Winter and spring are suitable to know Misiones and the Iguaz? Falls (summer is too hot). Choose your clothes according to the time of the year and the place to visit. When returning to their countries, tourists are allowed to carry a maximum of two pieces of personal luggage weighting up to 32 kilos each without having to pay any additional fee. Handbags are not weighed at the country's airports. In national flights the weight limits are
15 kilos for tourist class and 30 kilos for the so-called executive
or first class. Hand baggage cannot exceed the size of a purse or a
small valise weighing no more than 5 kilos, because otherwise the crew
will have to place it in the plane's cargo area until arriving to your
destination. |
